How to make ghee rice Neychoru

Ghee Rice or Naychoru is a spiced rice variety includes spices like cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. Basmati rice is mainly used for this preparation and it is very common in south regions of India. Ghee rice as the name indicates prepared in ghee or clarified butter. Ghee rice is very delicious and easy to cook.


Basmati Rice - 3 glass

Ghee - 3Tbs

Onion -2

ginger - 1 medium piece

garlic - 3 cloves

lemon juice - 1 Tbs

maize - 3

cardamom - 7

cinnamon - 1 piece

Coriander leaves to garnish

water - 6 glass


Basmati rice cleaned and soak for 30 minutes.

Take a vessel and heat 3 tbs of ghee . Roast cashews, raisins and one onion for garnishing ,keep it aside. Then add cinnamon, cardamom , cloves and maize to the ghee and roast for a minute. After add onion and sauté , now the time for add soaked basmati rice to it and fry for 5 minutes. Pour 6 glass of water ( water always add in double the quantity of rice , for ex:- if you take 2 glass of rice, then water must be 4 glass) to it and add lemon juice and salt. Cook the rice till all the water get absorbed. switch off the flame and cover.

Garnish with fried onion, cashews and raisins. After 5 minutes the Ghee rice will be ready to serve.
