Ingredients How to make Rasam

Rasam powder - 1 Tbsp

Tomato - 2

Tamarind - lemon sized

coriander powder - 1/2 tsp

turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

asafoetida| hing - 1/4 tsp

Black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp

Toor dal - 1/4 cup

curry leaves

coriander leaves

Ghee / oil


In a pressure cooker cook the toor dal and keep it aside.Soak the tamarind in 2 cups of water and extract the pulp. To this syrup add chopped tomatoes, rasam powder, coriander powder, hing ,salt and a small piece of jaggery. Cook these ingredients till tomatoes become soft. Then add cooked toor dal . Also add black pepper powder and coriander leaves. Switch off the flame after 3 minutes.

In a pan add ghee or oil to splutter the mustard seeds and add it to the rasam. Now tomato rasam is ready to serve.
